Top-line revenue is great, but as a publisher, you need to know exactly when a book has paid off its production costs and started generating actual profit for your business. The Title P&L Analytics screen visualizes exactly that, with absolutely no manual math required.

1. The P&L Data Table
The Goal: Get a bird's-eye view of your entire catalog's financial health.
The main table lists every book in your catalog and breaks down the exact flow of money:
Gross Rev: The total amount of money the book has generated across all vendors and formats.
Auth Share: The portion of the gross revenue that belongs to the author(s).
Pub Share: The portion of the gross revenue retained by you, the publisher.
Expenses: The total production costs you invested in the book.
Net Profit: Your true bottom line (Publisher Share minus Expenses).
Est. Break Even: A quick-glance status telling you if the book is profitable, if it will never be profitable (e.g., zero revenue but high expenses), or if it had no logged expenses to begin with.
⚡ Where do the "Expenses" come from? You cannot edit data directly on this screen. Imprint Core automatically pulls this data from the Title Management page. Whenever you log an expense (like Cover Art, Editing, or Marketing) under the Production Costs button for a specific title, it automatically feeds into this P&L table!
2. The Break-Even Visualizer
The Goal: See exactly when a specific title became profitable.
While the table gives you the totals, the chart on the right gives you the timeline. To use it, simply click on any title row in the main table to highlight it.
The chart will instantly render the financial journey of that specific book:
The Red Line (Total Expenses): This represents the money you spent to produce the book. If you paid for editing in June and marketing in August, you will see this line step upward on those dates.
The Green Line (Publisher Revenue): This represents your cut of the sales over time.
The Break-Even Line: The exact moment the green line crosses above the red line, a dotted vertical line will appear on the chart. That is the exact month the book officially paid for itself and began generating pure profit!
At the bottom right, you will also see a quick Status Summary block, reiterating your Total Expenses, what you have recouped so far, and your current Net Position for the selected title.
